Montra is a small, independent app. This page explains in plain language what it stores about you and what happens to it.
What Montra stores
- Your email address and a securely hashed password (never the password itself).
- The transactions, categories, accounts and preferences (like currency) you set up.
- Your chat messages with Montra, so your conversation history is there when you come back.
- Any feedback you choose to send through the app.
What Montra does not do
- It never connects to your bank or asks for bank logins.
- It never sells your data or shares it with advertisers.
- It doesn't use ad trackers. The public pages count visits with an anonymous random ID stored on your device (no name, email or anything personal), just to see how many people find Montra and from where.
- It never saves the screenshots, PDFs or CSV files you upload to import past transactions. They're read once to find the transactions you choose to keep, then discarded.
Services that help run Montra
Montra is hosted on Vercel, and its database runs on Supabase. When you chat or upload a file to import, it's sent to Anthropic's Claude AI so it can turn it into transactions. These providers process data only to run the app.
Who can see your data
Your transactions are only visible to you when you're signed in. As the person who runs Montra, I can see basic usage stats (like how many people signed up or were active this week), and I only look at an individual account's data if it's needed to fix a problem.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account anytime from Settings. This permanently removes everything tied to it — your email, transactions, categories, accounts, chat history and feedback.
